Live Jazz by Andy Peterson

  • The Rathskeller 132 East Superior Street Duluth, MN, 55802 United States (map)

Join us in the underground speakeasy every Thursday night from 9-11pm for live, upbeat jazz by the Andy Peterson Trio or the Thomas Woytko Trio, a group of local musicians who alternate playing weekly and share band members. No cover charge. Must be 21+ to enter.

Andy Peterson has been surrounded by music since a young age. His father was a musician, and there was commonly jazz, classical, and funk music playing in the house. This influence was a big part of his development as a young musician. Andy has played the saxophone for 13 years, and has been teaching and performing for the past few years. Andy graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Jazz Studies from University of Minnesota - Duluth in 2022, and will begin his pursuit in a Masters in Music in Jazz Performance from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music beginning Fall 2023.

The Rathskeller, ranked one of Minnesota's top whiskey bars, occupies a fabled place in Duluth's history. Located beneath the city street in the basement of Duluth's original 1889 City Hall, it was once a holding cell for the municipal court one floor above and it also served as a coal furnace room during the building's time as the center of city government from 1889-1926. Rumors abound that the space was once used as a speakeasy during prohibition and patrons have reported ghostly sightings inside the bar.

The Rathskeller is located at 132 E Superior St, Duluth, MN. No cover charge. Must be 21+ to enter.
